The larger crowds in Maine start to thin out after Labor Day, the end
of the summer tourism season. Prices are highest during this time, both
because it’s the most popular time to visit, and because the summers
are so short.
Maine’s secondary tourist season occurs in the winter, when skiing
and other snow-based activities are possible. Though not quite as crowded
and pricey in the summer, the winter months in Maine are by no stretch
of the imagination the “off-season”.
