 Sebago
Lake can be found less than half an hour northwest of Portland between
the Atlantic Ocean and the White Mountains. Sebago Lake is one of 50
lakes found here in the Maine Lakes region, but stands out because of
its size. Sebago covers 45 square miles, making it the 2nd largest lake
in the state and the 3rd largest in the New England region. It is also
the deepest lake in Maine with a maximum depth of 316 feet and an average
depth of 107 feet.
Naturally visitors come to the area to enjoy the water sports and activities
the lake has to offer. The lake provides excellent opportunities to
swim, water ski, windsurf, canoe, kayak, and parasail. Families flock
to the 9 natural sand beaches found around Sebago Lake, while anglers
come to fish for Atlantic salmon, brown trout, chain pickerel, lake
whitefish and many other game fish.
