Lake Tahoe California is the deepest lake in California,
and is among the most pure in the United States. But while thousands
of visitors enjoy boating, swimming and water-skiing on these
lovely blue waters surprisingly few know of it superlative fishing
opportunities. Millions of Mackinaw trout and thousands of Kokonee
Salmon team below Lake Tahoe’s surface, and the steep shoreline
and rocky shoals are home to hoards of rainbow trout. Lake Tahoe
is regarded by anglers as one of the most consistent spots for
fishing in California. Lake Tahoe fishing in the north end once
yielded a 37 pound Mackinaw!
Many of the tributaries to Lake Tahoe are closed to fishing in
the spring or fall when several sport fish species spawn, but
fishing Lake Tahoe is permitted year-round. This same is true
of the lakes in the Sierra High Country, where the shy and elusive
golden trout may be caught. In either case, however, any angler
over 16 must have a valid California or Nevada Sport Fishing License. |
