Any traveler hiking Kentucky Trails does him or herself
a favor by hiking Tioga Falls Hiking Trail. This moderately difficult
2-mile long hike is one of the most scenic and relaxing spot to go hiking
in Kentucky. The elevation of the trail is a mere 275 feet, but the
views of the 130-ft tall Tioga Falls (there are actually a series of
these cascades) rivals much higher hikes, and only take around and hour.
The Tioga Falls Hiking Trail is a loop that forks off about 1/3 of a
mile into the trail. Taking the left-sided loop first gets the uphill
section of the hike out of the way first, and leads hikers through a
beautiful hardwood forest past two large, functioning train trestles
(stay of the tracks, please). The trail then leads along a creek past
a 19th century carriage house before then heading back to the falls
then back toward the parking lot.
