Kansas has 3 distinct climates. The eastern 3rd of the
state is notable for its higher humidity, mild winters and relative
lack of sunshine. The middle 3rd sees less precipitation than in the
eastern part of the state and is drier and windier. The western 3rd
of the state is drier and windier still, and is extremely sunny.
Summers in Kansas are hot, but generous summer rains and low humidity
mitigate them somewhat. Summer nights are often cool, especially in
the western part of the state. Winter sees little snowfall, and is often
sunny and brisk. At all times of the year the state is subject to frequent
and sudden weather changes, usually of a short duration. |
