Hiking the
Platte River Trail No. 654:
Trail provides access to Platte River for fishing. Be aware of the private land. This trail also provides good opportunities for day hiking. The South Platte River enters a steep, rocky, picturesque canyon, just after the trail returns to the river. Trail construction is still continuing in the vicinity of the Platte River Trail's intersection with the Platte Springs Trail (626). The Platte Springs Trail (626) provides access out of the anyon via a steep climb. (See Trail #626 for access to it's trailhead.) Water is available at Happy Meadows Campground. Backcountry water is available on the north end in the South Platte River.
