Trail Description:
This is a heavily used trail, especially by motorcycles. It winds in and out of cool pine forests and offers scenic vistas of Colorado Springs, Garden of the Gods, Pikes Peak and Gold Camp Road.

Penrose Trail No. 665:
Motorcycles, foot and horse trail. The trail is moderately difficult and is open to motorcycles which are very often seen on the trail. It is recommended that motorcycles use this trail in summer months only because of snow depth. Temperatures are similar to Colorado Springs. Afternoon thunderstorms are common throughout the summer. Drinking water is not readily available. Water from streams should be treated before use. Hikers are advised to carry an adequate supply.

Camping and Backpacking Opportunities: Camping is permitted at undeveloped sites along the trail. Camping is recommended 300' of any trail or stream. Use no-impact camping techniques. Campfire permits are not required but please be sure your fire is dead out before you leave. Pack it in / Pack it out rule applies. Respect other trail users.
