Topeka capitol building
Topeka is the capital of the state of Kansas. Travelers who find themselves in Topeka may have a tough time finding a way to spend the afternoon. One suggestion is to check out the Mural of John Brown in the Capital Building. Or visitors could stop by the Brown Vs. the Board of Education National Historic Site at Monroe Elementary School, which commemorates the landmark 1954 Supreme Court cast that banned segregation in schools. Those less interested in civil rights and/or Kansan history can always hit the Topeka Zoo. There they’ll find…wait for it…lions and tigers and bears. Oh, my.
