Located in north east Kansas by the Flint Hills, Tuttle Creek Lake near the city of Manhattan provides 12,500 surface acres of water and 100 miles of shoreline, making it the second largest lake in Kansas. There are two designated swimming beaches on the lake.

Tuttle Creek Cove Park beach has a buoyed swimming area, change houses, open-air rinse shower, and a small playground. All for a small day use fee. The other large sandy beach is at River Pond State Park again with buoyed swimming area below the dam. You have a modern shower building, mud volleyball courts and sand volleyball courts plus two sun shade shelters. Just the motor vehicle entrance permit is needed.

There is a mile-long natural sand beach along the east side of the lake. But access by vehicle is difficult. The adventurous can enter by boat or on foot to enjoy the gently sloping shoreline. There are no lifeguards here and it is advisable never to swim alone.

Its the Tuttle Creek Lake Visitor Center that draws all the traffic. You have boat ramps and swim beaches along with other recreation facilities. This popular recreation destination includes campgrounds, cabin rentals, picnic shelters, swim beach, canoe rentals, disc golf course and other amenities.

Tuttle Creek Lake’s 11 parks, marina and 12,350 acres of water provide ample opportunities for outdoor recreation activities. Camping, sightseeing, fishing, boating, and picnicking are favorite activities. Facilities include boat ramps, courtesy docks, campgrounds, swim beaches, picnic areas and playgrounds.
