Waubonsie State Park

Iowa Home | Iowa Sitemap
Interesting topography highlights this geographic wonder of a state park. Long ago, the land that is now known as Waubonsie, was passed over by glaciers, creating crazy indentations in the slightly fluctuating earth. These rivets and chasms now remain as interesting hiking and biking terrain and give visitors a brief overview on the strange powers of mother nature. Also, there are equestrian-specific trails that flow through the park’s core.

This park is also a stop on the Lewis and Park National Trail and very close to Forney Lake and the Riverton Wildlife Refuge, both intriguing Iowa natural attractions. Forty campsites provide accommodations for the adventurous.
