With only about twenty-two miles of operating track,
the Boone and Scenic Valley Railroad is a testament to days gone by.
The “Iowan,” the world’s last mass-produced steam
engine, chugs along the beautiful Des Moines River valley over two majestic
bridges and acres of beautifully wooded land. Renovations continue on
this successful tourist spot. Newly renovated engines and cars plus
a completely redone train depot will soon adorn the track.
