In typical minor city, major college
fashion, Iowa City is sort of split between the two. The college
region, with its quaint shops and walk-friendly atmosphere has
sort of been spliced from downtown. General mindset differs greatly
as well and local conservatives have dubbed campus “ten
square miles surrounded by reality.”
Iowa City loves their college football and they love Coralville,
an almost adjoining town full of strip malls, malls, outlet malls,
etc.
Lots of golf courses including the championship Amana Colonies
are dotted around city suburbs and several bed and breakfasts
are worth checking out.
