West Lake Okoboji, a natural water-body with a surface area of 3,847 acres is located in Dickinson County. Its part of the Iowa Great Lakes. With maximum depths up to a 136 feet it is the deepest lake in Iowa. The mean depth is 39 feet. Four cities sit upon its shores and Gull Point State Park beach, Pikes Point, Arnold's Park and Triboji Beach are well known spots.
As one of three blue water lakes in the world, after Lake Geneva and Lake Louise, it remains the deep, blue-water crown jewel of Iowa. The depth of the lake makes it a popular regional destination for motor boating, water skiing, sailing, and swimming. The lake is also a popular fishing destination in the region.
