Iowa State land-locked in mid-western United States might have you wondering – where are the beaches dude! But of course they are all over the place. With criss-crossing rivers and streams and several natural plus man-made lakes – you have plenty of water fronts to have fun on.

With Mississippi River in the east, Missouri River on the west and the Big Sioux River in the northwest, you have a zillion gallons to enjoy. Add to this the many natural lakes - Spirit Lake, Clear Lake, West Okoboji Lake and East Okoboji Lake. Not to mention created lakes - Lake Odessa, Saylorville Lake, Lake Red Rock, Coralville Lake, Lake MacBride and Rathburn Lake.
   
 
Iowan summers are well known for their heat and humidity. Daytime temperatures can soar up to 90 °F and sometimes exceed 100 °F. Which is why people rush out to the beautiful Iowa beaches where they can surf, kiteboard, swim, beach volleyball, windsurf, or just enjoy the sun, surf and sand.

Standard swimming advisories are issued between Memorial Day and Labor Day each year since outdoor recreation at beaches in Iowa is typically limited during this time frame. Few beaches that lure regular visitors are:

Saylorville Lake : Rejuvenate your spirits in this mid-western oasis offering boating, fishing, campgrounds, and picturesque lakesides along its beaches!

George Wyth State Park : Take a break from routine to savor outdoor recreation in the natural setting of George Wyth State Park Beaches.

Clear Lake : This natural body of water in north-central Iowa is a popular destination with exciting water front activities that get return-visitors all the time.
