Sandy Beach on Gray’s Lake Park

The sandy beach in the City of Des Moines, under Iowa's Parks and Recreation authorities is a huge attraction drawing lots of visitors. Well loved especially in summers the beach is located in Gray’s Lake Park. This waterbody has been part of the ever-changing course of the Raccoon River that runs through here.

Well planned and designed Gray's Lake Park is considered an urban gem drawing people over. Tourists on the look out for a place to have fun in the outdoors in an urban setting come over regularly. It is a beautiful gateway to downtown Des Moines.
   
 
With opportunities for walking, biking, and other activities it has become a hot spot in the Des Moines Metro area. The centerpiece of the park is the two-mile trail encircling the lake. This trail is lit and equipped with emergency phones, providing a beautiful, clean, and safe outdoor experience.

Connecting the trail on the south edge of the lake is a 1/4 mile pedestrian bridge, the only one of its kind in the Midwest. The bridge is lit and visible all the way from Fleur Drive. Amenities her include the Beach, Boat Ramp, Boat Rental, Grills, Lake Lighted Two Mile Recreation Trail, Off-Street Parking, Overlook Terraces, Picnic Tables, Playground Equipment and Restrooms. Other features include the beautiful shoreline, landscaping, road extension, and new parking.

Gray's Lake is located on Fleur Drive and George Flagg Parkway. With free entry the hours for enjoying the facilities are 6:00 am - 10:00 pm daily from November through March, and 5:00 am - 12:00 midnight daily from April through to October. Gray's Lake Park is the premier park in Central Iowa!
