For hiking, fishing, and education on the geology and
make up of this historical part of the world, visit Falls of the Ohio
in Clarksville, Indiana. Upon your arrival, you are encouraged to view
the massive number of fossils that line the shallow riverbeds. These
fossils date back hundreds of millions of years and give a slight glimpse
into the ancient wildlife once inhabiting this place.
Onsite is a thorough interpretive center with helpful guides, willing
to explain to you the processes and weather systems that formed the
land as you see it today. Aquariums give you a clearer view of the river’s
ecosystem and a short movie takes you through an educational chain of
events.
While you’re enjoying the outdoors, it is important to be as informed
as possible. And of course, the waterfalls that flow along the Ohio
River are some of Indiana’s most beautiful and accessible. |
