A city built on the resourcefulness of Lake Michigan’s
outlying streams and one which later capitalized on early railroad systems,
Michigan City is one of northern Indiana’s most well preserved
communities. Proud and mindful of their past, the people of this lakeside
town have taken good care of old monuments, lighthouses, museums and
harbors, not to mention the fertile land that lies just outside of town.
Some of the more recent additions include the Blue Chip Casino, four
large golf courses, and various modern hotels. You have several choices
regarding how you’ll spend your visit here. Nearby Indiana Dunes
National Lakeshore provides vast natural wonders, camping and hiking.
Or you could settle in at a local bed and breakfast for the night.
Whether you’re just stopping through or staying for the duration
of your vacation, Michigan City will be a welcome site.
