Indiana Bluespring Caverns is located in a scenic landscape of farms, rolling pastures and woodlands, all riddled with thousands of sinkholes. Where the show cave is located more than 30km of passages in the cave system converge to a large underground river.
The tour consists of an impressive 2km long, flat-bottomed boat ride on the Mystery River, the longest subterranean river in the United States. It starts with a 250 walk steep down into the cave to the landing area.
The waterways of this Indiana vacation destination are famous for an abundance of wildlife, including rare albino blindfish and crayfish, salamanders, crickets, spiders, beetles and other forms of animal life that have adapted to the darkness and constant temperatures of the cave. Several types of bats inhabit the cave during winter.
