Whihala Beach, in Whiting, Indiana, United States, is situated at 1561 Park Rd. It is said to be the gateway to Lake Michigan from Lake County. It is a smaller land base than other beach, yet it is of 21 acres. The beach was previously named Whiting Beach. It covers two cities and is managed by the County, hence has name WHIting, HAmmond and LAke County. This beach was established in 1981, even though, it is a popular recreational spot for years.

During the summer time, the Whihala beach is popular for swimmers, boater and even sightseers, while in the spring and fall time, the tourists can use the beach front for viewing many of the migrating bird species in the flyway. This is a public beach with life guards available all the time. They keep the north western side of the beach free of swimmers and sunbathers open for kiting activity.
   
 
Whihala Beach is small, but not-too-crowded beach, provides enough amenities for kids, boaters and sunbathers alike. It is not only best known for the boat launch, but also offers restrooms, food concessions, picnic tables and rinse showers as well. Fishing in Indiana waters is open for a fixed time slot. The beach provides amenities such as, a boat launch, trail, concessions and an exquisite view of the Chicago skyline.
