Chicago is infamous for having an extreme climate. The summers
are sunny, very hot and humid, a state of affairs exacerbated
by the “concrete jungle” of the city proper. These
give way to bitterly cold winters and inclement precipitation.
Chicago’s lakeside setting only slightly moderates the temperatures
and adds humidity to the atmosphere.
The Windy City has 4 distinct seasons. The spring is short, with
mild temperatures during the day and chilly nights. Summers last,
from June to the end of September, with some relief coming from
cool evening breezes blowing in from Lake Michigan. Autumn is
among the best times of year to visit Chi-town; the air is crisp
and cool, the skies are blue and sun shines most days. Winters
in Chicago are icy and produce cold, harsh winds; snow is quite
common during Chicago winters, but it is also very rainy during
these months.
