North Avenue Beach is located along beautiful Lake Michigan in
Chicago, Illinois. North Avenue Beach is a fairly large, well-maintained
beach, and is a popular place to cool down during the hot Chicago
summers. Here visitors will see singles, couples, families and
groups of friends enjoying the sun, sand and water, as well as
runners, cyclists, inline skaters and an outdoor mini fitness
center and roller hockey rink. Chairs and bikes can be rented,
as can volleyball equipment, which can be used on the more than
50 volleyball courts located there.
This is Chicago's busiest beach, especially between the Memorial
Day and Labor Day national holidays, when beach gets very crowded.
Visitors should take public transportation or walk if they can,
or be sure to arrive early to find parking. At the North Avenue
Beachhouse there are concessions, shops, restrooms and a restaurant
on the 2nd floor. |
