 The
Seven Devils Mountains in Idaho extend along the Idaho/Oregon border
for approximately 40 miles, bounded by the Snake River to the west and
the Salmon and Little Salmon rivers to the east. Along with the colorful
names of its peaks, like Ogre, Devil’s Tooth and Goblin, this
scenic range of Idaho mountains is famous for it ruggedness. The Seven
Devils is the state's steepest range, with elevations ranging from over
1,000 feet at the Snake River to more than 9,390 feet on the summit
of He Devil.
Outdoors adventure opportunities Idaho hiking and Idaho rock climbing
are well above average, with something to offer a wide range of skill
and fitness levels. Thanks to the substantial elevation differentials,
the Seven Devils have a longer hiking season than any other Idaho mountain
range. Hiking begins along the Snake River as early as the beginning
of March. The best-known trails are found within the Wilderness boundaries,
but many there are many outstanding trails in the southern Seven Devils
as well. |
