Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve

Hawaii Home | Hawaii Sitemap
This site has been assigned the status of natural preserve because of its rich wildlife above ground and underwater. The main stretch of waterfront is inset along a curving mountain’s base. Travelers frequent its shores, but there are limits to the number of visitors the park can sustain at once.

Scuba diving and snorkeling in the blue green lagoon is a must for any Hawaii vacation, rugged or relaxed. The reef beyond the shore is bursting with marine life. Although recent popularity has been hard on the reef, locals are working to get the beautiful strand back to its thriving natural status. It remains a worthwhile visit for those who seek expansive views and world-class coral snorkeling.
