Ho’okipa Beach Park in Maui, Hawaii is considered by many to be what is possibly the very best place in the world for windsurfing. This is one of the most popular Maui parks, and hosts 2 major world-class windsurfing competitions.
Ho’okipa Beach Park features a sandy beach with a rocky shoreline, good surfing in the morning and excellent windsurfing in the afternoon with strong wind and currents seasonal high surf. Dangerous surf and strong currents are usually present here all year round. These strong surf and winds make windsurfing at Ho’okipa Beach an activity best left to the experts, but the beach has an 1/8th -mile coral reef, creating a relatively calm, still area that is perfect for swimming during the early mornings.
There is no lifeguard on duty at Ho’okipa Beach Park. Amenities include restrooms, picnic facilities, showers and 2 parking lots.
