On Oahu, Hawaii’s most heavily visited island, it is sometimes
difficult to find a place to slink away from the crowds and enjoy some
serene, calm natural spots. Though the natural portions seem to be shrinking,
there are still opportunities to get away.
Chinaman’s Hat is a little island that is perfect for some land/
water trekking. During low tide, it is easy to traverse the bay waters
and end up on this tiny island. Once there, it is an easy jaunt to the
top of the volcanic cone. Or, you could head around the base for a decent
little beach hidden on the other side.
Of course, these places are not as easy to find, and can offer some
challenges, but Chinaman’s Hat is well worth a little extra effort. |
