Kazumura Cave in Hawaii is the longest lava tube in the world at more than 60km long. It is also the deepest cave in the USA and the 8th longest (the 2nd deepest cave in the USA is also a lava tube, namely Hawai'i, Huehue Cave). A trip from the Progress of Man entrance near Volcano National Park to the lowest entrance in Paradise Park near Hilo takes 2 full days and includes 17 rope drops and 50km of traverse. At this time only parts of the cave are open to the public, but 5 to 8 hour tours are available.

Kazumura Cave is quite young; the lava flow and the forming of the caves took place only 350 to 700 years ago. The tube contains many kinds of lava formations, including lava Falls, lava blades, tubular lava stalagtites, stretched lava and lava plunge pools.
