Waimea Bay is one of the world’s most heralded
surf destinations, perpetually drawing hundreds of hungry wave riders
daily. Winters bring high surf and rough currents, some points become
dangerous for unsuspecting waders.
The trek to the beach is long and sandy, giving visitors plenty of room
to stretch out, regardless of season. For nonsurfers, summer’s
tides are calm and accessible, ideal for wading and swimming.
The attraction here is really the surf, or the spectacle of the surf,
whichever you prefer. Watching surfers in the curls is enough exhilaration
for some, but you may be compelled to give it a shot yourself. |
