Okefenokee, the oddly named system of bogs,
is well worth a stop when traveling south from Brunswick. Tons of alligators
and snakes call the grounds home, and well-run interpretive centers
educate the public on their habitat as well as their lifestyles. Pumas
and bears can also be spotted, on a more rare basis.
Okefenokee also boasts an observation tower and an onsite “serpentarium”
to get better acquainted with the natives. For an in-depth journey through
a rich Georgian swamp, it is well worth some exploration. |
