This nationally recognized land sits between two mid-level
Georgia cities: Macon and Athens. It was put in place to revitalize
the land after irrigation damage destroyed much of the original environment.
Several large manmade lakes are nearby, as well as a good amount of
trails to traverse the park. You and your group can set up camp basically
anywhere in the designated land, along a trail, in a campground or in
a more densely wooded setting.
Marshlands and sweeping hills also flow through the designated Oconee
region, displaying Georgia’s vast and varying wildlife. |
