Georgia’s climate is generally temperate. It is
influenced by the state’s proximity the Gulf of Mexico and the
Atlantic Ocean as well as Canadian air currents.
The northern part of the state can be somewhat cold in the winter, and
is subject to winter storms and moderate snowfall. The summers in the
north are extremely hot and humid, with several days a year topping
100 degrees F.
The southern part of Georgia is relatively warm year round, with particularly
mild winters. Summers are just as hot in the south as in the north,
but temperatures are cooler along the coast. Spring and fall are generally
pleasant, but fall is the season for tropical storms and hurricanes.
