Anna Ruby Falls

Tray Mountain, just north of Helen, Georgia is home to many year-round springs. The run-off from some of these springs combines into a couple little creeks that merge into Smith Creek. Further to the east more springs feed York Creek. Smith Creek and York Creek flow down their coves, getting larger until converging at the foot of Smith Mountain to create a rare double waterfall.

The footpath to Ruby Falls is as fulfilling as the view of the waterfalls. The path to Ruby Falls has been paved, with strategically placed benches along the the 0.4 mile walk to the waterfalls. Spring and early summer are the best time to view waterfalls.

Despite being battered by frequent, severe storms these coves here are very beautiful. Georgia pine and poplar trees provide a green canopy under which grow a natural garden of wild mountain laurel and rhododendron.
