Zoo Atlanta in Grant Park
Grant Park in Atlanta, Georgia was established in 1882 when one Mr. Lemuel P. Grant, a successful engineer and businessman, donated 100 acres of a newly developed to the city of Atlanta. Grant Park is the oldest city park in Atlanta, and is 2nd only to Piedmont Park in size. The park receives over two million visitors per year.

Grant Park boasts 2 major Atlanta attractions that other Atlanta parks cannot: Zoo Atlanta (established in 1889 and originally known as the Grant Park Zoo) and the Atlanta Cyclorama (a large composite picture placed on the interior walls of a cylindrical room illustrating the 1864 Battle of Atlanta from the American Civil War).

The Grant Park neighborhood is Atlanta's largest historic neighborhood. It includes the 88 acres of Oakland Cemetery), where 25 former mayors of Atlanta, 6 former governors of Georgia, and many Civil War Era military and civilian dead are buried.
