The Atlanta History Center is located on 33 acres in the Buckhead
district of Atlanta, Georgia. The center is unsurpassed as on
of the most culturally important Atlanta attractions. The center
contains one of the Southeast’s largest history museums,
a research library and archives, 2 historic houses illustrating
over 1000 years of Atlanta’s history, a 2-acre midtown campus
which houses the Margaret Mitchell House & Museum; and a series
of unique urban gardens.
The 1986 gift of the DuBose Collection, one of the nation’s
premier assemblages of Civil War artifacts, was the catalyst for
the $15 million campaign to build and equip the Atlanta History
Museum. Today the museum features award-winning exhibitions including
signature exhibitions like Shaping Traditions: Folk Arts in a
Changing South, Turning Point: The American Civil War and Down
the Fairway with Bobby Jones. |
