St. Vincent National Wildlife Refuge

This site’s focus has been returning the ecosystem to something much more native to these parts. Foreign species were introduced to the area and have since been controlled by the Fish and Wildlife Service.

This region of Florida is quite undeveloped and this island is no exception. If you plan to strike out on your own, you should stop by the visitors center in the middle of the island for a pretty accurate map. Fishing, hiking and boating are allowed anywhere on the island.
