The Gulf Islands reach east, starting with
Cat Island in Mississippi and ending up around Florida’s panhandle.
Old war forts dot these islands, which were helpful in protecting our
shores in the nineteenth century. The islands are well worth checking
out, either above the surface or below it. Snorkeling and scuba diving
are probably the most popular venture here, but hiking and exploring
the coastline is a close second |
