Although it is difficult to find non-tourist flooded regions of the
keys, Great White Heron does its best to focus on the native wildlife.
It was established as a refuge for the massive amount of birds, fish
and other wildlife that was native to the region but threatened by the
tourism sprawl.
Check out the visitor’s center for extensive information on native
plants and wildlife. After gaining a bit of knowledge, enjoy rental
kayak, snorkel and scuba gear and indulge in some spectacular views.
Great White Heron is one of the few islands left that is devoted strictly
to the promotion of native Florida life. |
