Actually located in the Gulf Coast, these islands surround
the impressive Fort Jefferson and are composed mostly of sand. Since
has not really been utilized for about a hundred years, the natural
entities have worked their way back to prominence.
The birds and reef are both stunning and it is a great idea to boat
around the region or scuba dive through the coral. Be mindful of the
fragility of the area and follow be aware of all park guidelines so
as not to disturb this pristine Florida habitat.
It is not easy to find a place to stay while visiting these islands,
so you may want to consider an exit plan. There are a few primitive
sites on Garden Kay Island, and it is quite undeveloped. |
