A sort of safeguard between the vast Everglades
and the expanding Florida residential and commercial populations, Big
Cypress is a little less overwrought with tourism than its big brother.
With identical climates and similar wildlife, this well-preserved national
site is a must for Florida adventurers.
There are a variety of activities to try while engulfed in this dense,
pristine setting. You can hike and backpack into the thick woods that
adorn the park or skim the swamps and bogs. The age-old ecosystems are
swarming with tropical birds and other unusual natives, so boating or
kayaking through the bending streams is a great way to take it in. |
