In the early part of the nineteenth century, coastal shipping, along with inbound traffic from Europe, increased dramatically in the Delaware Bay. As ships made their way into the Bay, they were faced with a deadly obstacle, the Fenwick Shoals, lying just off Fenwick Island. So, then a tower was made. Standing 87 feet tall, outer tower is conical-shaped, while the inner is cylindrical. This has now become one of the most popular tourist attractions here. The tower is open to the public during the summer months.
In terms of lodging too, there is plenty on offer here. From inns to motels to hotels and bed & breakfasts, one can choose a place based on personal needs, comforts and budget. The EconoLodge, the Ocean City, the Atlantic Budget Inn are some fine lodging choices here offering great service and comfort.
