Eco Pond Trail in Flamingo Area
Everglades National Park in Southern Florida is short on Flamingos, but the Flamingo Area of Everglades National Park is long on excellent National Park hiking trails.

The West Lake Trail is a 1/2-mile round trip through a forest of red, white and black mangrove and buttonwood trees to the edge of West Lake. This self-guided boardwalk trail is wheelchair accessible.

The Snake Bight Trail is a 1.6 miles, one-way trail found 4 miles north of Flamingo. There is good Florida bird watching to be had at the end of the trail.

The 2.6-mile Rowdy Bend Trail allows visitors to explore an open coastal salt prairie. Bicycles are permitted. On the1.8-mile Christian Point Trail a rustic path begins in dense buttonwoods and ends in open coastal prairie along the shores of Snake Bight. The 1/2-mile Eco Pond round trip trails goes around a freshwater pond that is home to a wide variety of wading birds, Alligators are often seen cruising the pond as well.
