St. Petersburg

Long known as a “haven of rest” for the sick or weary, it is not difficult to understand the solace one can find here. With a slew of beaches and inland rivers, St. Petersburg is the perfect place to stretch out and relax or experience nature to a good, full extent.

Both beaches, located on the north and south sides, are heavily “touristed” for most of the year. Again, this being a distinctly coastal town, fresh seafood is almost required. Any place along the beach is usually much better than average. Check out Clearwater Beach or Sand Key Park for tall Florida palm trees and long, sparkling gulf beaches.

Some of the outlying islands have extensive wildlife. Shell Island and Egmont Key both house wildlife refuges that are open to explore.
