Under the authority of the Migratory Bird Conservation Act, Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge was established in 1963. One of the finest refuges along Atlantic coast, this refuge has best wetland environment that happen to main halting spot for spring and fall migrating shorebirds, waterfowl along with endangered fox squirrel, bald eagles. Spread over 10000 acres, this refuge have various features such as freshwater & salt marsh, grassy landscapes, ponds, walking trails & forest. It also houses different species of reptiles & mammals. Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge also offers wildlife related recreational activities like hunting, fishing, boating, hiking, photography, visitor’s center & environmental educational programs. With prior permissions & according to state and federal regulations, it allows the fishing, hunting of deer & waterfowl.

  • Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge
Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge is stretched over eight miles & covering an area of 16251 acres. It has the upland forest, swamps, freshwater pools, rivers & is habitat of thousand of migrating ducks, shorebirds, geese & songbirds. It also manages for the deer, red foxes as well as many other species including snakes, insects, frogs etc. The refuge is basically meant for preserving the habitat of waterfowl, endangered bald eagle along with other migratory bird. The area houses the observation towers & nature trails to enjoy the wildlife. It also provides the hiking & photography opportunities to the visitors.
