As the State Delaware is deficient in national parks, this deficiency is filled up with number of state parks with their distinctive features like historically important, natural beauty, long distance trails & great recreational potential. Cape Henlopen State Park, Fenwick Island State Park, Holts Landing State Park & Delaware Seashore State Park are name of those parks which fulfill one’s expectation.

 

Spread over 933 acres of land, Brandywine Creek State Park is declared as state park in 1965. Tulip Tree Woods –the splendid 190 year old stand of tulip & Freshwater marsh are the two nature’s preserves in the premises of Brandywine Creek State Park along with the third, Flint Woods-an outpost old jungle area & the resident of rare song birds, wildflowers. The park possesses a large open space for various entertaining activities like picnics, kite flying, skiing, disc golf course, fishing etc. but the interesting part of the park is its 14 miles of trails for hiking activity. It has four trails namely Indian Springs, Rocky Run Trail, Hidden Pond, Northern Delaware Greenway Trail. The park organizes various educational programs based on environment & natural history that include nature crafts and lectures, hayrides & birding programs.
Brandywine Creek State Park
Delaware Seashore State Park of Dewey Beach, Delaware, came into existence in 1965. The park has an area of 2825 acres & surrounded by the grand Atlantic Ocean, Rehoboth Bay and Indian River Bay. Various entertaining activities sp. water related activities like swimming & sunbathing, fishing & boating, Surfing and Sail boarding, Clamming and crabbing (in some areas) are the prime attractions of tourists. There are some trails also for hiking & biking activities among which Burton Island Trail is quite interesting as it offer excellent panorama of the salt marshes and bay islands. The park also organizes some interesting events such as educational programs & competition of making sculptures & castles for creative participants. In the free time, one can visit the other nearer parks (within 50 kms) like Cape Henlopen State Park, Fenwick Island State Park etc.
