As the only undammed river in northeast portion
of the United States, the Delaware is truly a marvel. Its watershed
extends from southern New York all the way to the east border
of Delaware and out into the Atlantic.
Designated a National Scenic River, much of its outlying watershed
is protected. It is possible to travel the entire length, all
the way from the river’s inception to its wide, expansive
mouth, running along the entire eastern Delaware border. Some
of the land here is quite primitive, while other portions have
been made quite accessible for campers and wildlife lovers. Check
out local state parks for accommodations and scenic trails for
pristine views of the untouched marvel that is the Delaware River.
