Chesapeake and Delaware Canal
These two adjoining canals are a marvelous example of human ingenuity. They significantly broadened the east coast’s shipping capability and are still in commercial use today.

There are various bridges and historical manmade structures along the length of the canal, commemorating its unlikely history. Many brave people worked very hard to ensure that Baltimore and various Delaware ports remain noteworthy import/export center. Along the canal’s shoreline, biking and hiking trails travel up and down, giving outdoor adventurers a complete look at the collaboration between man and nature.
