Although the State of Delaware is historically significant & well-off in case of state & city parks but you can’t say the same thing in case of national parks, forest and so in natural areas. Other states like Alabama, Florida are prosperous in natural area but when one think of Delaware & its typical natural area, only Middle Run Valley Natural Area & Goat Island Nature Area come in picture.

 

  • Middle Run Valley Natural Area
New Castle’s Middle Run Valley Natural Area, also nicknamed MRVNA is a nature park & its establishment initiated in 1975. The park ultimately reached to its 850 acres area that houses woodland, grassland, creeks, ponds etc. Middle Run-A tributary of White Clay Creek is very significant that flow s from north to south through the park. This natural area has about 20 miles wooded trail network for hikers & horse riding & is one of the prime places for mountain biking. Among the ten trails, Lenape, Double Horseshoe and Possum Hollow are the important trails. The park is a suitable place for recreational activities like bicycling, wildlife viewing & hunting (but occasionally).

  • Goat Island Nature Area
Eight acre Goat Island Nature Area is situated on the River Mispillion in the city of Milford, Delaware. The distinctive feature of the area is that it gives a chance to get attached with nature. This natural area has marshland, forest & manages various development activities like wetland creation, planting of native species & it’s controlling.
