’ First State’- Delaware does not have any national park surprisingly, but to compensate the lack of national park, Delaware State has variety of natural, historical State parks & National Wildlife Refuges with areas for recreational activities. Delaware Seashore State Park, Killen Pond State Park, Fenwick Island State Park, Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge and Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuge are the name of some promising state parks & National Wildlife Refuge which are loyal towards the conservation of the nature.

 

Endowed with natural & recreational activities, Killens Pond State Park is one of the favorite spots for outing that pull the crowd round the year. The park is provided with full of amenities like boating, fishing, hiking, playing fields, 18 hole disc golf course and picnic areas. The pond is habitat of bluegills, pickerel catfish, carp & perch which can be explored by rowboats and pedal boats. On the other hand, there is Killens Pond Water Park; located at Killens Pond State Park is a treat that set in peaceful natural surroundings. It features the good amenities like bathhouse with showers, changing facilities, restrooms. The park has the trails for hiking & biking among which the Life Course Trail is very challenging. The park also conducts environmental education, public programs, and summer day camps & has nature’s center.
Killens Pond State Park
Established in 1966 over the 344 acre area, Fenwick Island State Park is open for year round recreation. The park is bordered by Atlantic Ocean and Little Assawoman Bay so give two different shorelines on the same land. The bay side area is perfect place for recreational activities like fishing, clamming, sailing, windsurfing and kayaking. The white sand beaches are very popular as it is the ideal place for swimming and sunbathing. To get the sailing lessons, park visitors can hire various types of watercrafts. After enjoying here, there are many other state parks within the range of 30 miles including Cape Henlopen State Park, Trap Pond State Park and Holts Landing State Park etc.
