Old Courthouse in New Castle
This former state is capable of giving visitors a pretty good idea of what life was like in 1655. Largely enacted prior to Delaware’s secession from Pennsylvania, New Castle has successfully retained the charm of early America.

Brick buildings, cobblestone streets, old Episcopalian churches, courthouses, graveyards, and ancient mansions have been well kept and restored by a town proud of its historically significant past. It is a simple and worthwhile gesture to take a walking tour of the old, uneven streets that cater largely to incoming visitors and history buffs.

The Delaware River provides some recreation and nostalgic views and the lively Atlantic shoreline is just a short drive away.
