The historic charm of Delaware cities is a surprisingly good
match for the resort-town getaway feel some of them have.
Lewes
and
New
Castle are excellent examples of this.
Wilmington
is the biggest and most sophisticated city in the state, while
Dover,
the capitol of the state, is basically a small town with big responsibilities.
Dover:
This large small town is the capitol of Delaware, and has a distinctly
easy-going attitude.
Lewes:
This city mixes its long (by American standards) history with
modern, resort-town fun.
New
Castle:
With its brick buildings, cobblestone streets and
genteel, if crumbling, churches, mansions and graveyards, this
is a New World city with Old World charm.
Wilmington:
Riverboats, museums and a large university make this urban little
town a treat to visit.
