While travelling to Connecticut, remember you have put your foot on the right note if you are aspiring for some ski adventure. At the northwest corner of Connecticut is Mohawk Mountain that fulfills the skiing aspirations of the visitors and locals alike. Rushing streams, good old covered bridge and evenly spread tall pines make the place a beautiful ski destination. There are 107 skiing spots spread on 23 trails offering wide, sweeping and open ski grounds. Mohawk Mountain is also the largest night skiing area in Connecticut. The area also offers food service, ski shop with rentals and Mohawk’s Base Lodge which has wonderful warm stone fireplace surrounded by antique skis and sleigh. Mount Southington Ski Area is another great spot in Connecticut with loads of family entertainment.

Located just 2 miles from New Hartford, Ski Sundown presents 15 trails and wonderful terrain. It offers great skiing amidst scenic snow filled views. The trails are naturally accustomed to treat both first timers and challenge lovers alike. Tom’s Treat and Temptor are the real delights with a scenic one-mile loop and pathways full of twists and turns. If challenge is your baby, go for the bumps down Gunbarrel’s 625 foot thrilling drop. Ski Sundown receives good snowfall; however it is also provided with snowmaking coverage. It also operates the largest grooming fleet in the region. There’s a ski shop, lounge, a pleasant cafeteria and relaxing sun deck at the Base Lodge. You can also find great lodging accommodations in nearby town.

Recreation is the year round activity in Woodbury Ski Area located in the Southern Litchfield Hills. A small mountain with great fun for the family, Woodbury offers 100% snowmaking. First timers can also opt for grooming service. The area features downhill skiing with bumps, new snowboarding trails with redesigned pipes, sledding and tubing. You can also go for lift riding. Woodbury holds the recognition of being one of the first ski areas to allow snowboarding in America. Specially designed half mile snow board trail has exciting jumps for shredding and poses fun filled challenge for the beginners. The interesting part among all these features is the price factor. Woodbury Ski Area is highly affordable and this is what makes it an ideal grooming choice for the first timers. It takes just 45 minutes from New Haven or Hartford and 25 minutes from Danbury, to get there.
